Ultrasonic cleaning is very ineffective. Ultra-sound seems to be concentrated in two small spots in the center of the tank so only the items directly above those two points are affected/cleaned. tank is too small to hold large items like receivers. Best thing about this unit is it has a heating element, without that , this unit would be pretty much useless.. Timer only goes up to 430 seconds, so you have to keep resetting it if you need to go longer. kind of annoying and inconvenient.. Cleans brass only so-so...better than nothing i suppose. Would recommend that you consider spending more $$ and getting a larger more capable Cleaner.Ed of Scottsdale, AZ - March, 14 2014:
So far I have only used this to clean gun parts with the Lyman stainless steel cleaner. My concern was that it would not be effective and I'd be out $100, but thankfully that is not the case. I ran 2 Glock 17 and 19 slides and barrels (disassembled) through this unit and they look as good as new. Each have at least 2,000 rounds through them and were well maintained with M-Pro 7 cleaners, but the gunk that came out of the crevices was amazing. Is this the best unit out there? I don't know, but it was a good choice and well worth the money.
