I have owned one of these rods for 2 yrs. now.I fish it with a 3wt wf line.It cast good as more costly rods.Caught a lot of fish on it .It's my truck rod. Going to pick up one for my son.

Brandon of Austin, TX - August, 30 2011:

Awesome shipping. Awesome fishing. Pair with a 5wt for 25' or less casting or a 4wt for some distance. Rod looks good and feels great. I will be buying another just as soon as they get another one. Seriously, this rod is just FUN.

Jeff Braman of Encinitas, CA - December, 23 2011:

I have used a variety of expensive and inexpensive graphite, glass and bamboo fly rods since I began fly fishing for trout at age 12. For small streams and medium size rivers, I can catch just as many fish with the very affordable Wright & McGill Eagle Claw 6'6" Featherweight rod. This rod is described as having a "parabolic action"; the sufficiently "stiff" butt section smoothly transitions to a "softer" tip. The practicle advantage of this action is that you can cast short or easily roll cast in streams with overhanging trees and brush and yet punch out a long line in an open river if necessary.

Doug of Avondale, AZ - September, 06 2012:

I have this rod in the 7' and now the 6'6". I love it. The BLACK EAGLE in 8'6" is graphite and is beautiful. Eagle Claw makes a lot of super products and these rods are proof. You can't find a better rod for the money. Get one and you will not be sorry.

DOUG of TOLLESON, AZ - September, 28 2012:

This rod is great for short casts and limited casting room. The glass works well with slower and softer casts.Good for around 30 ft.It's what I wanted and go's every where. With a EC 1010 reel it's balanced perfect. For the money there is nothing else like it.

Robert of Ottumwa, IA - January, 05 2013:

Like it so far. Haven't had a chance to fish it yet, did some casting with it in the yard and seems good. Maybe a little limp for my liking but think it will work well for crappie and bluegills. Anxious for spring to use it.

Dusty of Twin Falls, ID - May, 04 2013:

I found this rod weak and a bit sloppy, but I'm used to graphite rods. Might be a good one for an old timer.

Sean of Puyallup, WA - May, 05 2013:

This rod works ok theres nothing fancy about it. But if your looking for a shorter rod to work around alot of brush and trees this will fit the bill! At the price of the rod you wont cry if you end up breaking on a back cast into the trees,

Marc of Boise, ID - May, 07 2013:

This rod works well as a backpack rod, where you may not want to take your expensive gear to get broken. The action is a little too "whippy" for me for most other applications.

Skyler of Mesa, AZ - May, 14 2013:

Great rod at a great price for small stream and bluegill fishing. Good choice if you do not want to hike along the stream with a high end expensive rod. Rod is fairly soft and flexes quite a bit, but works perfectly for small dries on the small creeks.

Lee of Beulah, CO - February, 11 2011:

This is an excellent little creek fly rod. At the price, I don't think there is one better.
